The Havanese temperament is often one of playful devotion. They are intelligent and curious animals that love to be the center of attention. You will find small children are one of their favorite family members. You will also find that they dont like to be left alone for long periods of time. This means you usually have to take them with you on vacation or place them with a well known friend. They do get along with other animals, especially dogs. The Havanese can also be a great watchdog as they tend to let you know when someone is approaching. Luckily they will not approach a stranger without your consent. You will also find they are neither timid nor aggressive. If you see this behavior in your Havanese there is something wrong and you should take them to the vet.

Freedom

Deer hunting is over in the Wildlife Management area so my dogs are reveling in their freedom. They have been confined to the pen more the last few weeks than their whole 19 months of life.

Nope, this is not about feeding your dog a strict diet of green beans only. Here's at it works: You get a can of green beans and mix some of that up with your dog's own regular food.

The benefit of this is keeping your dog full in between meals. If you have a dog that's anything like mine, she's always hungry and looking for anything to snack on. She stays particularly full and well fed when I give her some green beans with her food. She's quite satisfied, at least until the next meal.

This trick isn't something you have to do for all dogs. But this is really nice for these dogs that could eat more than they should at one meal. If you decide to try this, remember that only a small amount of green beans per meal will do. You don't have to go filling your pantry with tons of cans. Store the leftover green beans in the can in the fridge, until the next day.

Keep track of how much you are giving your dog by
